Published 17 October 2026. General guidance; an inspection of your vehicle is still required.
The existing workshop image is illustrative; it does not document this specific fault. This guide cannot confirm whether your vehicle is safe to drive.
Common areas to investigate
Links, joints, bushes, suspension arms, dampers and their mounts or bearings may need checking. Their noises can overlap. A recording or a description such as “front left” is useful context but cannot reliably identify the defective component without an inspection.
Describe the conditions
Say whether you notice the knock at the front or rear, on bumps, while turning, when braking or when moving off. Include any recent pothole impact, wheel change or repair. Report the conditions already observed in normal driving; do not deliberately hit bumps or make sharp manoeuvres to reproduce the noise.
When it becomes urgent
Strong bangs, unstable handling, pulling or marked vibration after an impact need prompt attention. Stop safely if control of the car has changed and discuss transport or assistance. A quiet stretch of road does not prove that an intermittent fault has gone away.
What the advertised check includes in the quote
The published chassis-check price is CZK 500. This is not a fixed price for every knock, all fault-finding or the repair itself. Ask the workshop to confirm the initial scope; additional diagnosis, labour and parts should be agreed separately once the findings are known.
Why tyres alone may not solve it
New tyres or balancing cannot repair mechanical play in suspension parts. Finding the cause early helps avoid replacing unrelated parts and may prevent further uneven wear. Start with the inspection rather than choosing a component from an online symptom list.
A useful service enquiry
Describe the symptom, when it occurs and any warning lights. Include the make, model, year and approximate mileage. Send relevant photographs or reports by email; the enquiry form does not accept attachments. Do not record or use your phone while driving.
